Each combination would result in the witch being overtaken by smoke and when it cleared a mini-game was revealed. Starring a witch reading from a Google spellbook, users could help create the witches brew by adding a combination of ingredients to her cauldron. In 2013 Google created a fully interactive Doodle for Halloween. Of all the doodles over the years it is still probably one of the darkest and for me truly captures the spooky vibe of Halloween. The 2008 doodle by Wes Craven is still one of my favorites.

Since Google archives all of these I figured I’d take a trip down memory lane and share some of my favorites from over the years. In the early days, they look like nothing more than some clipart stacked on top of the Google logo, but in more recent years they have gone on to be more intricate and in some instances animated. Google Doodles, as they’ve come to be known, are the modified logos that appear at the top of Google’s search engine on holidays and special events.

One of the characters in the video will definitely remind you of the last year’s cat Momo who went on a duel with all the ghosts and ghouls, also the music is same. You can play the last year’s Halloween Doodle here.As I was going through old blog posts for a feature I’m launching this Friday called “From the Archives” I came across a brief post I wrote back in 2008 when Google launched a Halloween Doodle designed by Wes Craven. The Jinx video is actually a sequel of sorts for the last year’s interactive Halloween Doodle.

It is a very cute video of a ghost called Jinx (which will remind you of Casper) who wants to be a part of the Halloween festivities and tries to don different costumes which will hide the fact that he is actually a ghost. The Google Doodle is not visible for Indian audience but can be watched on YouTube. The world is celebrating Halloween today by decking up in scary costumes, going trick-or-treating and pulling spooky pranks on each other so how can Google be left behind? Google which is known for coming up with adorable and interesting Google Doodle has come up with one that has a short video clip attached to it.
